Financing of Trafficking in Human Beings

Trafficking in Human Beings (TBH) is a serious organised crime, described by the OECD as ‘one of the most lucrative forms of organized crime’ and identified it as the world’s third largest illicit trade behind drugs and counterfeiting.

Financial institutions can make a significant contribution to combat this crime through the use of AML frameworks and tools to identify and seize the proceeds from THB but to do so it must understand the finances of the perpetrators behind human trafficking to be able to mitigate and even reduce the growth of THB.

Enhanced awareness is crucial, therefore GFIU in collaboration with GACO will be inviting an expert speaker on this subject to share his experience and knowledge. Invites sent via GACO.
